Abstract
Le niveau d’eau de la rivière Saguenay au Québec réserve bien des surprises. Le 17 octobre 2001 les eaux ont envahi une portion du boulevard Saguenay, juste en aval de la marina de Chicoutimi. Un tel événement est plutôt rare. Et on nous dit que cela était plus fréquent avant le rehaussement de cette voie de circulation. Alors, dans l’éventualité d’aménager la zone ferroviaire de Chicoutimi, située à un jet de pierre du lieu, il serait bon d’analyser ce qui s’est passé en examinant les conditions qui ont prévalu au moment où cela s’est produit. L’hypothèse qui nous vient à l’esprit repose sur une combinaison de facteurs dont les principaux sont liés aux très hautes marées amplifiées par un refoulement des eaux vers l’amont occasionné par des vents à contre-courant.
