Abstract
Une plante peu connue bien que très répandue dans nos régions fait depuis peu parler d'elle au sein de la communauté scientifique. Souvent qualifiée de mauvaise herbe , Euphorbia peplus, du genre Euphorbia (Euphorbiaceae), qui envahit les terrains vagues, a démontré qu'elle pouvait faire des miracles dans le traitement de certaines affections cutanées cancéreuses. Les investigations chimiques menées sur la plante ont révélé la présence d'un di terpène cytotoxique dans le latex: le mébutate d'ingenol. Celui-ci a été testé en clinique chez l'Homme dans l'indication de la kératose actinique et est devenu la substance active de la spécialité Picato® (laboratoire Léo pharma). Ce médicament a déjà obtenu des autorisations de commercialisation dans plusieurs pays (USA, Canada, Europe). Il est également en cours d'évaluation clinique dans le traitement des cancers cutanés. D'autres molécules extraites de cette plante ont montré un potentiel thérapeutique intéressant, notamment dans le domaine de l'inflammation. Dans la littérature, peu de travaux proposent une synthèse globale sur la plante et ses intérêts en thérapeutique. L'objectif de ce manuscrit est de synthétiser et d'organiser les informations disponibles sur Euphorbia peplus dans la littérature scientifique afm de comprendre ses intérêts en médecine moderne
