La VI Conferencia Internacional de Mecánica del Suelo e Ingeniería de Fundaciones se desarrolló en sesiones plenarias de mañana y tarde en el Place des Arts (Palacio de Artes), en la ciudad de Montreal, Canadá, entre el 8 y el 15 de Septiembre del presente año. Las anteriores Conferencias se efectuaron, en Cambridge, Mass, la primera en 1936; luego en 1948, en Rotterdam la segunda; la tercera se realizó en Zúrich, en 1953; Londres fue la sede de la cuarta Conferencia, en 1957; en 1961 se realizó la quinta Conferencia en la ciudad de París. A esta Conferencia de Montreal, asistieron alrededor de 1.200 delegados de 46 naciones de todo el mundo y se presentaron 218 trabajos técnicos. (Texto tomado de la fuente)
