Abstract
Joan Martí i Castell (Tarragona, 1945) Actualment, catedràtic emèrit de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona, de la qual va ser el primer rector. Ha estat docent i investigador a les universitats italianes de Bèrgam i de Calàbria, i professor visitant de la Universitat de Berkeley (Califòrnia, EUA) i de la Universitat Laval (Canadà). Ha estat un dels fundadors i el primer president de l'Institut Interuniversitari Joan Lluís Vives (avui Xarxa Vives d'Universitats) i del 2002 al 2010 ha presidit la Secció Filològica de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC). És membre del Consell Permanent del Consell Social de la Llengua de la Generalitat de Catalunya i del consell de redacció d'Estudis Romànics, entre altres càrrecs. Ha estat membre del Consell de Direcció del Centre de Terminologia de Catalunya (TERMCAT) (2002-2010) i del consell supervisor de la xarxa CRUSCAT de l'IEC (2002-2010).
