Abstract
Walmart on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $1.75 billion. On a per-share basis, the Bentonville, Arkansas-based company said it had net income of 58 cents. Earnings, adjusted to extinguish debt and for non-recurring costs, came to $1 per share. Surging online sales and strong food sales helped Walmart delivered its largest sales gain for established U.S. stores in more than eight years.The world's largest retailer has also raised its annual profit outlook after delivering fiscal third-quarter results that beat expectations.Walmart is reporting a net income in the third quarter of $1.75 billion.The report shows that Walmartâs aggressive discounting and its moves to spiff up its stores and increase online services are working to attract shoppers.
