Abstract
La capa de ozono, benigna protectora de la tierra cada día decrece, por efecto de las sustancias químicas hechas por el hombre, tales como los clorofluorocarbonos (CFCs). Hoy la comunidad internacional es tan solo un espectador que año a año ve como desaparece nuestra capa de ozono a través de los informes sobre su disminución y sobre comprometedores incrementos de radiación ultravioleta-B el cual acarrea daños acumulados en diversos organismos. Debido a estos procesos que ocurren en la atmósfera el Perú, como país miembro del Protocolo de Montreal, viene reduciendo poco a poco el consumo de los productos químicos que destruyen la capa de ozono y además por intermedio del SENAMHI viene monitoreando el estado de la capa de ozono en la región central del país con la finalidad de alertar a la comunidad científica nacional e internacional sobre su variabilidad temporal y posible deterioro. Se espera que de aquí a algunas décadas se incremente la concentración de ozono en la atmósfera debido a la aplicación del Protocolo y sus enmiendas.
