Abstract
Tutkimukseni kohteena on puhuttelu saksassa ja suomessa. Työni alussa käsittelen kielellistä kohteliaisuutta ja alun perin Goffmanin luomaa kasvojen (Face) käsitettä. Goffmanin idean pohjalta Brown ja Levinson ovat tutkineet ja kehittäneet oman teoriansa, joka tarkastelee eri kulttuureita ja erityisesti niissä ilmeneviä positiivisen ja negatiivisen kohteliaisuuden strategioita. Suomen- ja saksankielisen kultturialueen erot tulevat esiin myös puhuttelussa, joka heijastelee puhuttelukumppanien keskinäistä suhdetta ja on siten osa kielellistä kohteliaisuutta ja sekä omien että puhuttelukumppanin kasvojen suojelemista.\n\nTämän jälkeen käsittelen saksan ja suomen puhuttelun elementtejä (pronomini, verbi, nimi ja titteli) ja niiden käyttöä sekä erityisesti suomen kielelle tyypillistä puhuttelun välttelyä tähänastisen tutkimustiedon valossa. Esittelen myös joitain suomalaissaksalaisessa kulttuurien välisessä kommunikaatiossa ilmeneviä ongelmia.\n\nEmpiirisessä tutkimuksessani käytin tiedonkeruun metodina ryhmäkeskustelua. Tutkimukseen osallistuneet ovat Tampereen yliopiston Saksan kielen ja kulttuurin opiskelijoita, ja ryhmäkeskustelut toteutettiin keväällä 2009. Ryhmäkeskusteluista kerätyn aineiston perusteella analysoin, miten tutkittavat käyttäytyvät puhuttelun suhteen saksaksi ja suomeksi ja millaisissa tilanteissa puhuttelu tuottaa eniten ongelmia ja miksi. Aineistossa toistuvat ongelmatilanteet olen jakanut kategorioihin, joista tärkeimmiksi nousivat opettajien puhuttelu yliopistolla saksankielisellä alueella sekä Suomessa (saksan kielen ja kulttuurin laitoksella), kollegojen puhuttelu työpaikalla saksankielisellä alueella sekä asiakaspalvelussa Suomessa.\n\nAsiasanat:kohteliaisuus, puhuttelu, kulttuurienvälinen kommunikaatio
