Abstract
The current situation of the business cycle is one of the most important factors for economic policy authorities. In Japan, a hard recession was observed for the last quarter in 2008 and the first quarter in 2009，and this paper reveals it was caused by an extremely high speed of the production and the inventory adjustments, which are suggested to be due to the foreign inventory adjustment in Japanese exporting countries. The paper also prospects a short-term business cycle movement as W-letter shape in fiscal 2009 based on Shumpeterian and Mitchellian dichotomy.
