Abstract
Este artículo realiza un análisis de los antecedentes regulatorios, implementación y avances que ha tenido la firma electrónica en el Ecuador. Se incluyen aspectos relativos a los cambios legales y normativos que se han generado para que el estado de esta herramienta evolucione de propuesta regulada (año 2002) a realidad tecnológica (2008) así como aspectos vinculados con la emisión de certificados de firma electrónica por parte de Entidades de Certificación de Información Acreditadas en el país.
