Aide-soignante, préposée aux bénéficiaires, auxiliaire polyvalente ou encore accompagnatrice à domicile sont autant de métiers, le plus souvent au féminin, mal connus, effacés, parfois oubliés, jouant pourtant un rôle essentiel dans le soutien des personnes atteintes de handicaps, âgées, malades ou mourantes. Leur contribution est essentielle au maintien de la dignité de ces personnes. Cet ouvrage a pour ambition de mieux comprendre ces métiers, en prêtant une attention aux collectifs de travail, à la nature des tâches, aux apprentissages et aux conditions de leur réalisation, aux multiples « arts de faire » dans l’accompagnement et les soins au sein d’univers très contraints. Au travers de ces métiers, sur lesquels il invite à jeter un regard différent, l’ouvrage cherche également à mieux saisir les transformations des dispositifs sociosanitaires, dans différents pays (Belgique, France, Suisse, Québec), les divers établissements de soins et secteurs (soins aux personnes âgées, soins palliatifs, soins à domicile) dans lesquels évoluent ces travailleuses et travailleurs.
