Ce mémoire s'inscrit au sein d'une étude génétique de l'asthme dans la population du Saguenay. L'objectif principal de ce travail est de vérifier si les familles avec une histoire familiale d'asthme et des sous-groupes d'asthmatiques atteints des conditions respiratoires reliées à l'asthme présentent des caractéristiques particulières du point de vue de la consanguinité et de l'apparentement et de vérifier la présence d'ancêtres spécifiques aux familles présentant cette maladie. Les reconstitutions généalogiques ont révélé des niveaux de consanguinité et d'apparentement moins élevés chez les cas que chez les groupes témoins. Parmi les cas, on a cependant trouvé un apparentement et une consanguinité plus élevés dans le sous-groupe des individus atteints d'hyperréactivité bronchique que dans les autres sous-groupes. L'analyse du recouvrement et de la contribution génétique a montré l'absence d'ancêtres communs spécifiques aux familles d'asthmatiques au Saguenay. \n \n
