Abstract
L’article présente une analyse de l’utilisation du capital social ethnique dans la création et la pratique du commerce par les immigrés chinois en provenance de République populaire de Chine, de Taïwan et d’Asie du Sud-Est, vivant à Paris, Bruxelles et Montréal. Dans le cadre d’une approche interactive et multifactorielle inspirée de la théorie de Waldinger, nous appréhendons le capital social ethnique comme l’un des principaux facteurs favorisant le commerce, et estimons qu’une étude sur le sujet ne peut faire l’impasse sur cet aspect. Nous présentons quelques résultats de notre enquête qualitative auprès de soixante personnes impliquées dans ces commerces. Ceux-ci témoignent, en effet, de l’impact du capital social ethnique à différentes étapes de la pratique entrepreneuriale, de la mobilisation des ressources dans le processus de création de l’entreprise à son fonctionnement quotidien dans le choix de la main d’œuvre et la formation de réseaux économiques, démontrant l’aspect incontournable de cette variable dans l’étude de l’entrepreneuriat chez les minorités ethniques.
