Abstract
Nonostante importanti progressi nella prevenzione, l'arresto cardiaco rimane un importante problema di salute pubblica e una delle principali cause di morte in molte aree del mondo. L'arresto cardiaco può verificarsi sia all'interno che all'esterno dell'ospedale. Negli Stati Uniti e in Canada, circa 350000persone all'anno (approssimativamente la metà in ospedale) sono colpite da arresto cardiaco e vengono sottoposte a tentativi di rianimazione. Questa stima non include il numero rilevante di vittime colpite da arresto senza tentativi di rianimazione. \nAttraverso questo testo lo studente imparerà le manovre di RCP da applicare a vittime di qualsiasi età e si eserciterà con la RCP in un contesto di lavoro di squadra. Sarà in grado di usare un defibrillatore semiautomatico esterno (AED) e risolvere casi di soffocamento (ostruzione delle vie aeree da corpo estraneo). In questo corso inoltre imparerà a riconoscere vari tipi di emergenza, come un arresto cardiaco improvviso, e ad affrontarli.
