Abstract
Vinte e três anos após o Congresso "A Arte em Portugal no século XVIII" realizou-se em Braga o colóquio "Struggle for Synthesis" entre os dias 11 e 14 de Junho promovido pelo Ministério da Cultura, Instituto Português do Património Arquitectónico e Arqueológico, Galeria do Rei D. Luís e pela Universidade do Minho, Museu Nogueira da Silva.Os responsáveis científicos foram os Professores Luís de Moura Sobral e David Booth da Universidade de Montréal. Ao primeiro, conhecido historiador de arte cujos interesses vão da pintura barroca e do surrealismo à pintura contemporânea, sucedeu Dr. Booth na Direcção do Departamento de História da Arte da Universidade de Montréal onde são Professores.
