Abstract
A comunicação é tida como um elemento básico, intrínseco e fundamental à profissão de enfermagem. A relação entre enfermeiro e doente afirma-se através da comunicação, proporcionando um cuidado holístico e centrado no doente. O doente crítico, internado em Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos apresenta na maioria das circunstâncias um compromisso na comunicação, sendo crucial o reconhecimento das barreiras existentes para a adoção de estratégias eficazes para uma comunicação plena, promovendo a humanização dos cuidados de enfermagem prestados neste tipo de unidades. No decorrer no Estágio Final, foi desenvolvida uma Intervenção Profissional Major com o objetivo de melhorar o processo comunicacional com o doente crítico em contexto de cuidados intensivos, através da efetivação de estratégias promotoras da uniformização dos cuidados relativos ao processo comunicacional com o doente crítico, as quais se apresentam no presente relatório.
