Diagnóstico de la contaminación del Río Ragra por el mal manejo de drenaje ácido proveniente del depósito de relave en Pasco

Abstract
Se analizaron la contaminación de la zona de Desmonte Excélsior y los Depósitos de relaves en Quiulacocha-Pasco y los potenciales de neutralización y de acidez máximo generados. Se propuso un sistema de tratamiento para el drenaje ácido. Se determinó el área de influencia ambiental. Luego se evaluó el agua superficial, los efluentes, los sedimentos acuáticos y los tratamientos para drenajes ácidos; los muestreos se hicieron en periodos de avenida y estiaje. Para la calidad de suelo las concentraciones de los parámetros, no exceden el estándar, excepto para arsénico (As) y plomo (Pb); para la calidad de aire, no exceden el estándar. Para agua superficial, los parámetros cumplen con el stándar a excepción de algunos metales, el pH, está fuera del rango establecido, algunos sólidos totales en suspensión se encuentran encima del límite. Los depósitos de relaves Quiulacocha son generadores de ácido por tener potencial de neutralización negativo. Para metales en sedimentos acuáticos se usó The Canadian Sediment Quality for the Protection of Aquatic Life, Canadian Environmental Quality Guidelines, norma con dos valores específicos, el Interm sediment quality guidelines (ISQG) límite debajo del cual no se esperan efectos biológicos adversos y el Probable Effect Level (PEL) que informa de las concentraciones sobre las cuales los efectos biológicos adversos se encuentran con frecuencia. Para las épocas húmeda y seca, se supera el ISQG y PEL para el cadmio, cobre, mercurio, plomo y zinc. El tratamiento de las aguas ácidas tiene que ser pasivo, como el canal óxico calizo.
