Les études démographiques et génétiques ont souligné le caractère hétérogène de la population québécoise. Cette étude a pour but de vérifier la présence d'une variabilité génétique dans cette population pour deux traits complexes fréquents (asthme et maladies cardiovasculaires). Parmi les 15 régions administratives du Québec, 1680 échantillons ont été génotypes pour 11 SNPs inclus dans 8 gènes associés à ces traits. L'analyse de classification hiérarchique utilisée pour regrouper les régions et les variants selon les fréquences alléliques observées a révélé un groupement de variants ainsi que trois groupes de régions par affection. Il n'est pas possible d'expliquer tous ces regroupements grâce à nos connaissances sur le peuplement du Québec. Toutefois, ces résultats suggèrent qu'une étude de plus grande envergure pourrait permettre de caractériser l'hétérogénéité de la population afin de créer des outils adaptés à la structure génétique de celle-ci qui pourraient être utilisés par le système de santé public québécois. \n
