Abstract
Pensar de manera científica el agua, normalmente se resume en el ciclo hídrico, el cual la ha definido desde la mitad del siglo XX siguiendo las trayectorias geográficas del agua por el medio ambiente –en ríos, lagos, plantas, acuíferos– y sus transformaciones físicas –líquida, solida, gas–. En otras palabras, se sintetiza así: el agua fluye por los ríos hacia el mar, una parte se evapora y regresa al suelo como precipitación, otra agua se queda congelada en los glaciares, la cual luego se derrite.Este enfoque se encuentra cada vez más limitado por su dificultad para incluir la influencia del ser humano, sus infraestructuras, industrias, economía y política, en conclusión, a la sociedad, en las trayectorias y transformaciones del agua. Hoy en día, no se puede entender el agua pensándola como exterior a la sociedad. Las transformaciones sociales influyen sobre el agua y viceversa.
