El punt de partida d’aquest escrit és el testament de Saÿt Mili (1377), conegut des de temps enrere. Tot i la vàlua d’aquest document, sempre se n’ha limitat la lectura a un aspecte molt concret, com ara la dotació d’un hospital al call de Ciutat de Mallorca. Amb aquest retorn, d’entrada, es vol intentar un apropament a altra informació fins ara bastant ignorada i relacionar-la amb altres dades que es troben disperses ençà i allà. El segon pas, s’adreça a veure què se’n desprèn, d’aquesta conjunció, i així besllumar qualcuns dels trets del que era el dia a dia del call de Ciutat de Mallorca els anys immediatament anteriors a l’assalt de 1391.
