This talk presented findings from a transatlantic group project on urban climate adaptation. Most scholarship on urban climate governance has focused on cities facing immediate risks or places after extreme climate events have happened. In contrast, this project focuses on "climate boomtowns", i.e. urban regions in cool climate zones which do not face immediate threats and may even become destinations for climate refugees. The four investigated "climate boomtowns" of the project are Chicago, Toronto, Zurich and Geneva. This talk examined climate adaptation strategies and solutions proposed in these four cities to tackle urban heat and flooding events. It also reflected on the impact of these initiatives in improving equity and resilience.
