Cette thèse de doctorat en études et pratiques des arts gravite autour du projet de création French Kiss. La première partie de cette thèse établit son cadre théorique en décrivant la problématique de recherche, le corpus et les méthodologies de recherche utilisées. Plus précisément, je détaille comment le projet de performance (en direct et pour la caméra) utilise les personnages de la princesse et de la grenouille comme symboles pour mettre en scène différentes facettes de mon exil volontaire. J’étudie par la suite comment mon déplacement du Québec vers l’Ontario et le choc culturel qui en est découlé sont à l’origine de cette recherche. Je plonge ensuite dans une étude des concepts de l’exil, de l’autofiction et de la performance en lien avec ma démarche et un corpus artistique. De plus, j’aborde comment l’autoethnographie alimente l’analyse de mon exil et de mon processus créatif, ainsi que comment la démarche déconstructive est sous-jacente à ma création artistique. La deuxième partie de cette thèse prend la forme d’un récit de pratique et présente les différentes étapes de mon trajet de création. En décrivant le chemin sinueux de ma démarche de création artistique, je précise comment mes réflexions par rapport aux concepts décrits dans mon cadre théorique, mes accidents de parcours et mes analyses ont contribué à mon projet de création.
