'Female viagra' maker bought by Valeant Pharmaceuticals

Abstract
The maker of the 'female Viagra' drug's being bought for a billion dollars. Canada's Valeant Pharmaceuticals says it'll acquire Sprout Pharmaceuticals---- it comes just after the Food and Drug Administration's approved it's drug Addyi (ADD-EE). The pink pill's supposed to treat low sexual desire in women. It's been rejected twice before by the F-D-A. And Reuters says it was only moderately effective in clinical trials, plus it has a strong warning about potentially causing low blood pressure and fainting. But Valeant's C-E-O's not worried about safety concerns--- or lawsuits. He says the risks'll be low because the drug's only available by prescription. Valeant says the deal'll probably close this quarter. And Addyi'll be available in the U-S by the end of the year.
