Abstract
The use of tobbaco is one of the health threats in the world, which kills more than 7 milion people anually. Most of the smokers start smoking from adolescence. Adolescence is an age when the adolescents start finding their self-esteem, and trying something new. This research aim is to investigate the smoking knowledge and attitude profile of SMKN students in Padang City, Indonesia. \n\tThis research is descriptive with cross sectional analysis. The sample for this research is 385 students in 10 state pre-professional high schools (SMKN) in Padang City in 2018 and use questionaire from Global Youth Tobacco Survey 2014. \n\tBased on the result, 43.12 %, of students are smoker, 88.19% men and 11.81% women are ever cigarette smoke, the age smoking for the first time ranges between 14-15 years old. The ratio of students understand the knowledge and attidude of smoking addictive is 13.77%, social smoker is 28.83%, the danger of passive smoking is 76.62%, and more than half favor smoking bans in enclosed and outdoor public place. \n\tConclusion of this study are more than half of total of SMKN students in Padang City are smokers. Most of them are men whose age ranges between 14-15 years old. Students' knowledge and attitudes about smoking addiction are less than a quarter of students, the total number of students who think smoking makes a sense of comfort to "social smokers" is less than half of total students, and more than half of students think secondhand smokers are dangerous and favor smoking bans in enclosed and outdoor public place. \n \n. \n\t \n\t \nKeywords\t: Knowledge and attitude, Global Youth Tobacco Survey, Cigarette,Students.
