Abstract
This twin screw propeller was built of wood in 1871 at Detroit for the Anchor Line by Campbell and Owen. She ran in the packet freight trade only for Lake Superior Transit Co. She was the first double decker on the lakes and had two engines: one a high pressure and the other a low pressure. She was sold to Miles E. Barry of Chicago about 1899-1900, and in 1906 sold Canadian to Geo. Plunkett, Colbourg, Ont. (C-116813) and renamed to "Strathmore." In her later days she was in the coal trade and towed the "Sophia Minch" to Milwaukee. On Nov. 14, 1906, the "Strathmore" was wrecked at Michipicoten, Ont. on the east end of Lake Superior and burned where she lay.
