Abstract
Un área de reciente interés en Psicología es la dedicada a estudiar la etapa de la adolescencia; y para conocer dicha etapa, tenemos que conocer los aspectos importantes de ella. El propósito de este estudio de investigación reside en conocer el índice de alexitimia en jóvenes, en concreto, jóvenes de un centro extremeño. A una muestra aleatoria formada por 195 estudiantes de entre 14 y 20 años (varones y mujeres) de dos comarcas extremeñas y pertenecientes a un mismo centro, se les aplicó el TAS-20 (Toronto Alexithymia Scale). Los resultados obtenidos han permitido conocer la situación actual del índice de alexitimia y la comparación del mismo en función del género y la edad. En conclusión, un considerable porcentaje presenta elevado índice de alexitimia, lo cual debe tenerse en cuenta puesto que es factor de riesgo para ciertos trastornos y problemas a los que se es más vulnerable.
