La capoeira est une ancienne pratique afro-brésilienne qui révèle plusieurs éléments et rituels.L'analyser ainsi, loin de ses racines, soit l'Afrique ou le Brésil, a semblé intéressant et a aiguisé ma curiosité.En m'inspirant surtout des cultural studies, j'explore la capoeira à Montréal en tant que pratique culturelle, et j'analyse comment les personnes la pratiquent dans une école Montréalaise.En sortant du champ des études culturelles, je propose d'étudier le concept d'amateur développé par Antoine Hennion (2004), pour comprendre le processus d'attachement des « capoeiristas » et des professeurs de cette pratique.Ma recherche repose sur une démarche ethnographique qui s'est déroulée de novembre 2016 à janvier 2017.Pendant ces trois mois, j'ai participé à une vingtaine de cours de capoeira.En plus de ces observations, j'ai rencontré informellement des membres de l'école qui m'ont permis de prendre des notes régulières du terrain.Les propos que j'ai recueillis et retranscris forment la matière à partir de laquelle j'ai construit mon analyse, permettant ainsi de mettre en évidence la complexité de la capoeira ainsi que les différents éléments qu'elle constitue.
