Abstract
Ha sido uno de los personajes más interesantes de nuestro pasado, y, a pesar de ello, menos conocido. Sin embargo no hubo gobierno ni congreso que no lo tuviera presente desde los episodios de mayo de 1810 hasta el advenimiento de Rosas en 1829. \nParticipó en todos los sucesos más relevantes del nacimiento de la nacionalidad, y su opinión fue tenida en consideración en la resolución de las disputas institucionales frecuentes en tan extenso período. Fue fundamental nada menos que en la formación del primer gobierno patrio y en la declaración posterior de la independencia. \nPor eso conocer su actividad resulta de interés para comprender mejor nuestra historia.
