Abstract
Micone (1992), Poulin (1987) et Vallée (2005) mettent, chacun à leur manière, la lumière et l’accent sur la différence. L’autre que « je » suis s’avère hautement conflictuel avec l’autre que « je » rencontre. Dans cette mesure, il y a une réelle perte identitaire qui place les héros de chaque texte dans un vortex extra-culturel, c’est-à-dire, en dehors de l’acceptation par les autres et de facto, de soi. En oscillant entre deux (trois ?) mondes, les personnages sont conscients de leur altérité « marginalisante ». Kristeva et Nancy aideront à comprendre la peur qu’engendre l’autre et nous verrons comment l’acceptation peut être envisagée. A travers cet article, je me propose de mettre en avant la différence comme la causalité d’une déconstruction et reconstruction du soi, ainsi que la traduction d’un malaise historique. Si Sartre considère l’autre comme essentiel à la connaissance de soi, il convient de voir comment l’autre s’érige aussi comme une barrière identitaire. Qu’il soit métis, immigré ou paria sexuel, l’autre déclenche une exploration intérieure inévitable, car l’identité reste constamment en proie à la différence.
