Abstract
The information contained in this report incorporates data this quarter from all 44 counties who detain juveniles and whose detention facilities have been providing monthly with necessary figures. The number of juveniles who were reported held in jail this quarter totaled 1942 for the state. The race and sex distribution for those recorded disclosed 834 white males (42.9%), 398 white females (20.5%), 537 black males (27.7%) and 173 black females (8.9%). The total race distribution was 63.4% white and 36.6% black. Males (70.6%) were held at a rate of almost 2 1/2 times that of females (29.4%).
