www.attheedgeofcanada.blogspot.com This is a conversation with the Artist Jamie Black (Metis) about her work and her artistic philosophy. She discusses her latest work called the Red Dress project. According to Jamie The REDress Project is based on an aesthetic response to the more than 500 missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada. She is drawing attention to the gendered and racialized nature of violent crimes against Aboriginal women the installation seeks to evoke a presence through the marking of absence.
