Conclusiones de los autores del estudio: la inmunización universal antigripal iniciada el año 2000 en Ontario (Canadá), comparada con la inmunización en otras provincias, produjo una disminución relativa de la mortalidad asociada a la gripe y de la utilización de asistencia médica. Los resultados de este experimento natural a gran escala, sugieren que la vacunación universal podría ser una medida de salud pública efectiva para reducir la carga anual de gripe.\n\nComentario de los revisores: este estudio tiene algunas limitaciones que podrían circunscribir la generalización de sus resultados. La mayor efectividad de la inmunización universal antigripal debiera corroborarse con estudios experimentales. Es necesario conocer el coste-efectividad de esta estrategia
