Comment traduire le chamanisme en termes socioanthropologiques? Pour répondre à cette question cette étude du chamanisme s'articule autour de trois niveaux d'analyse. Une compréhension des dynamiques, sociohistoriques et ontologiques, ainsi qu'une focalisation sur les facultés de médiation de l'art et de la science, entourant et animant des pratiques chamaniques; offrent un tremplin réflexif engendrant des parallèles entre des collectifs issus des deux hémisphères. Une sociologie phénoménologique, combinée à un empirisme post-positiviste, esquissent des trames théoriques et méthodologiques, s'appuyant sur une réflexivité expériencielle et institutionnelle. Elles se résument en une tentative d'attiser la réflexivité des savoirs. Cette mise en forme de l'agencéité, immanente aux science sociales, veut inviter aux possibilités d'assouplissement de contours conceptuels; induites par le travail intellectuel. L'art, aussi bien visuel que sonore, se trouve employé à la fois comme support empirique, et comme toile heuristique; dévoilant des modes de compréhension transcendant les marges de la physicalité cartésienne. Cette traduction tisse donc une matrice épistémologique, aiguisant des optiques inédites, pour cerner ce qui semblerait se profiler hors des marges de la scientificité communément entendue. Les sphères étudiés affichent des similarités, par moments ontologiques et, par d'autres, d'ordre historiques enrichissantes du point de vue sociologique. Aussi, cette thèse explore, et devient en soi, une tentative d'application d'un potentiel, à la fois structurant et transformateur, qui semble octroyé à certains acteurs sociaux que sont les artistes et les chamanes et les intellectuels.
