Abstract
La francophonie canadienne, plus minoritaire que jamais, fait \nface à de nombreux défis, tels qu’un avenir démographique \nprécaire et une perception d’identité fragilisée. Cette thèse \ns’intéresse aux communautés franco-ontariennes, couramment \ndéfinies par une dualité linguistique et identitaire, générant \nune hybridité culturelle, et explore ces concepts pour conclure \nque l’hybridité est un atout unique à célébrer. Malgré tout, la \nvitalité culturelle demeure précaire et la thèse s’intéresse donc \nau potentiel d’une institution culturelle de diffusion et création \npour les arts et la culture pour célébrer, mais aussi dynamiser \nl’hybridité culturelle d’une communauté francophone du \nNord-Est de l’Ontario. Une étude des différentes catégories \nd’institutions culturelles stimulant la vitalité culturelle a \npermis de définir le programme de l’institution, alors que \nl’étude de l’histoire de Timmins, la ville accueillant le projet, a \npermis d’identifier des marqueurs identitaires qui sont intégrés \nà l’architecture afin d’ancrer le bâtiment dans son contexte, \ncélébrant l’identité de la communauté.
