Abstract
Malgré leur ampleur dans les sociétés québécoise et canadienne, les séparations parentales ne sont pas pour autant banales pour les enfants et les parents qui les vivent. Au lendemain d’une telle transition familiale, de nombreux aspects de leur vie sont modifiés, parfois bouleversés. L’ouvrage présenté ici dresse un portrait de la manière dont les séparations parentales et les recompositions familiales se dessinent au Québec en posant un regard interdisciplinaire sur le phénomène. Basé sur les données de l’Enquête longitudinale auprès des parents séparés et recomposés du Québec, ce livre traite de quatre thématiques : 1) l’environnement conjugal, familial et économique au lendemain d’une séparation parentale; 2) le bien-être des parents, des enfants et des couples; 3) les liens des familles séparées et recomposées avec les institutions sociales et juridiques et 4) les conflits de séparation et la violence conjugale. Les chapitres qui le composent s’adressent autant aux personnes du milieu pédagogique qu’à un public plus large préoccupé par les enjeux sociaux et juridiques soulevés par la séparation parentale.
