Abstract
Tämä kandidaatintutkielma käsittelee Helvi Sipilän presidentinvaalikampanjaa vuonna 1982. Aineistona toimii Helvi Sipilän arkisto Kansallisarkistosta, useampi alkuperäisteos ja tutkimusta varten suoritetut haastattelut. Tutkielma käsittelee Sipilän roolia ensimmäisenä naisena Suomessa, joka asettui ehdolle presidentinvaaliin. Lisäksi tutkielma analysoi syitä hänen ehdokkuudelleen ja analysoi kampanjan pääteemoja. Tutkimuksen menetelmä on laadullinen sisällönanalyysi ja suoritetut haastattelut puolistruktuoituja. Tutkielma käsittelee vahvasti naiseuteen ja naisten poliittiseen edustukseen liittyviä teemoja. Analyysin kohteena on Sipilän poliittiset kannanotot liittyen sosiaali- ja perhepolitiikkaan, tasa arvopolitiikkaan, kehitysyhteistyöhön ja ulkopolitiikkaan. Tutkimuksen tuloksena tulkitsin, että Sipilän ehdokkuutta vuoden 1982 presidentinvaalissa ajoi vahva halu parantaa Suomen tasa arvopolitiikkaa ja yhteiskunnallista keskustelua tasa-arvosta, sekä tyytymättömyys puoluepolitiikan tilaan Suomessa.
