The present experiment assessed the influence of present pain intensity, manipulated by trigger point therapy, on memory for reported pain intensity and pain affect experienced approximately 30 minutes prior.Fourteen chronic headache patients (~age= 39 1/2 years; tl pain duration = 12 years>, receiving treatment at the UCLA Pain Management Center, participated in the study.Patients made retrospective reports of pain experienced at the beginning of each of two consecutive weekly therapy sessions: once just following trigger point therapy when pain was low and once immediately prior to trigger point therapy when pain was hlgh.Pain intensity and affect ratings, as indexed by visual analogue scales and the McGill Pain Questionnaire, respectively, v
