Abstract
Afin de s’orienter vers la viabilité, le tourisme doit contribuer à l’autonomisation des collectivités locales. Ceci peut être réussi au moyen de la participation de la collectivité à la prise de décision où l’information essentielle est obtenue et aux stades précoces de l’autonomisation ce qui permet à la collectivité de déterminer son propre développement (Cole, 2006). Le renforcement de la capacité de la collectivité assure l’avantage du tourisme à la collectivité locale afin que ses habiletés et son sens des affaires deviennent une part de l’industrie du tourisme, ce qui se traduira par l’atténuation de répercussions négatives. Cet article met l’accent sur la collectivité de Moose Factory qui a utilisé une approche fondée sur la collectivité afin de créer un excellent exemple d’auberge écotouristique. Ce projet collaboratif a été élaboré avec l’intention de fournir des moyens d’existence économiques, sociaux et culturels. Les stratégies de développement et de participation de la collectivité seront abordées.
