L'objectif de ce travail est de démontrer que l’intégration d’usines papetières dans des grappes éco-industrielles est techniquement faisable et économiquement rentable grâce à l’utilisation de cycles thermiques à absorption pour en accroître l’efficacité énergétique. Le projet consiste en une étude de cas en trois parties effectuées en parallèle, soit : - Une analyse énergétique poussée de l’usine partenaire afin d’en réduire la consommation de combustible fossile de façon radicale voire de l’éliminer totalement. - Une cueillette des données en ligne des communautés adjacentes aux usines papetières canadiennes pour déterminer l’utilisation éventuelle de la puissance électrique et de la chaleur excédentaire qui pourraient être produites par ces usines. - La conception optimale du point de vue rentabilité économique de technologies de conversion et de revalorisation de l’énergie.
