Native vs. Invasive Plants and Invertebrates in Siberian and Central California Lakes
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The invasive submerged macrophyte, Elodea canadensis (Canadian pondweed, native to \nNorth America), was first discovered in Lake Baikal, Russia, the world's largest freshwater lake, \nin the 1970's. Since then, this plant has expanded its range in the lake and can now be found in \nlittoral zones of many coves that offer shelter from wind and waves. This study quantified \nimpacts of E. canadensis on benthic fauna of the littoral zone in Chivyrkuyskiy Gulf, Lake \nBaikal. E. canadensis was found to comprise 20-99% of total plant biomass. Macroinvertebrates \nwere identified to family, and chironomid larvae and amphipods (Crustacea) were sorted to the \nspecies level when possible. Macroinvertebrate biomass was strongly correlated with total plant \nbiomass, and higher taxonomic diversity was significantly different between different plant \ndensities. We offer this case study where an invasive macrophyte is providing refuge for native \nmacroinvertebrates in the world's largest freshwater lake.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
