Abstract
Transitie openbaart zich in velerlei gedaante. We leven in het tijdperk van de derde generatie universiteiten: de moderne universiteit die zich ten doel heeft gesteld om aan toponderwijs en toponderzoek te doen en wetenschap om te zetten naar meerwaarde voor de maatschappij.Niettemin is het zaak om de kwaliteit blijvend te waarborgen en ervoor te waken dat deze universiteit van de 21e eeuw ook de menselijke maat weet te bewaren. De student moet centraal blijven staan, met het besef dat ook excellent onderzoek noodzakelijk is voor de kwaliteit van de opleiding.Zo’n universiteit moet midden in de maatschappij staan. Meer dan ooit zijn de universiteiten en haar stakeholders op elkaar aangewezen om het verschil te maken.
