Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

From 6 October 2013 to 18 May 2014, the International Centre of Lace and Fashion in Calais showcased contemporary textiles through the exhibition Lace Effects 1. This is one of the actions of the European Crysalis project, which was selected as part of the European cross-border cooperation programme INTERREG IVa 2 Seas, co-funded by the ERDF. Grouped together under the title Moving Textiles, the Crysalis exhibition series links both the notions of expertise and technical proficiency to textile innovation. Lace Effects 1 thus presents textile, fashion and design works inspired by the lace theme.
\n
\nI showed a piece of work inspired by the Lace Collection at the International Centre of Lace and Fashion. I have also been granted permission by the Art Gallery of Ontario to use the photograph 'Lodz ghetto 1941-1944' taken by Henryk Ross for this work.
\n
\nThe museum has a working lace loom demonstrating the traditional industrial lace making skills. The machinery is lubricated with graphite, not oil; when the full factory was running there must have been a large amount of graphite dust in the air at all times. I played around with the idea of this graphite dust settling onto discarded clothing.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
