Abstract
In recent years, the need for various types of dictionaries has greatly increased. \nDictionnaire Explicatif et Combinatoire(DEC) is a special dictionary which was \ndesigned and has been compiled by I. A. Mel'čuk and his colleagues in \nUniversité de Montreal. This dictionary purports to represent native speakers' \nlexical knowledge in entirety, and is famous for its rigorous principles and criteria \nfor describing this knowledge. Especially, definition, syntactic properties, and \ncollocational properties of lexical items are presented explicitly and carefully. \nDEC uses a special device called Lexical Function to describe lexical \ncollocational relations. In this paper, various principles and criteria for elaborating \nlexicographic informations in DEC are presented, and the prospects of applying \nthese methods to design a new type of Korean dictionary are explored.
