Com o objetivo de proporcionar debates a partir de filmes e discussões que abordem situações críticas da realidade social e da diversidade em sala de aula, existe a necessidade de explorarmos a utilização da linguagem cinematográfica na educação. Isso tem como propósito subsidiar os professores com uma proposta pedagógica que utilize filmes de diferentes categorias e gêneros para contribuir com a formação crítico-reflexiva dos alunos com relação a assuntos relacionados com a diversidade cultural. Assim, por meio do cinema, os alunos podem adquirir habilidades para entender o diálogo que existe entre o currículo escolar e as questões socioculturais mais amplas que dominam a sociedade contemporânea. Nesse sentido, é necessário levar ao debate a utilização do cinema em sala de aula como um recurso que tem um grande potencial educacional e que pode ser utilizado pelos professores na elaboração de atividades pedagógicas curriculares. Dessa maneira, o papel simbólico do cinema se torna uma fonte rica e inesgotável para analisar a diversidade cultural, pois a sua utilização nas escolas pode trazer para as salas de aula o entendimento e a aceitação dessa diversidade presente na sociedade.
