Abstract
In the territory between Fiesole and Artimino, before the imposing mounds of the second half of the 7th century. BC, it is possible to identify a different type of tomb. These structures, of much more modest dimensions, consist of two rooms constructed from large slabs of stone vertically inserted into the ground. The tombs appear to be the evolution of the oldest cist tombs in stone and have traditional cinerary vases inside, decorated with ribs and relief mouldings, elements that remind us of the Volterra area. The adoption of this type of tomb occurred in the second quarter of the 7th century BC and can be read as a first element of distinction of the aristocratic groups of the territory.
