Trenta pazienti sottoposti ad intervento di estrazione del terzo molare in anestesia locoregionale sono stati suddivisi in tre gruppi di 10 pazienti ciascuno in relazione a livelli di ansietà assenti o bassi, medio bassi\no medio-alti, valutati preoperatoriamente mediante VAS. I\npazienti con ansietà medio-bassa e medio-alta erano stati presedati con clordemetildiazepam per os e sedati intraoperatoriamente con midazolam per via nasale. L'analgesia perioperatoria era stata assicurata mediante lornoxicam e paracetamolo+codeina. Il dolore postoperatorio\nera stato valutato mediante McGill Pain Questionnaire. I risultati ottenuti hanno dimostrato una maggior incidenza di descrittori sensoriali nei pazienti affetti da livelli nulli o bassi di ansietà preoperatoria, mentre nessuna differenza fra i descrittori affettivi e valutativi è stata osservata fra i tre gruppi. I risultati ottenuti dimostrano che i soggetti\ncon ansietà assente o bassa non rivelano componenti affettive del dolore, le quali risultano invece sempre più rappresentate nei pazienti affetti da ansia preoperatoria medio-bassa o medio-alta malgrado il trattamento ansiolitico effettuato. Gli autori concludono affermando che la presenza di ansia nei pazienti sottoposti ad estrazione del terzo\nmolare è indicativa di una maggiore richiesta, in questi soggetti, di trattamento del dolore postoperatorio.
