Abstract
This Owls 2000 symposium volume, representing the third in a series of international meetings held in Canberra, Australia, will be principally interesting for its wealth of papers on Australian owls. Topics discussed include population ecology, distribution, conservation, and voice. Many but not all papers are highly technical, which limits the book's usefulness primarily to graduate and professional readers. The book is well produced with clear figures (but no photographs), but there is no index or cumulative bibliography. Much of the material covered (especially for the Australian birds) is not readily available in journals commonly held in the US or Canada. Summing Up: Optional.
