Key findingsThere were 475,950 supplemental qualification achievements awarded in January to March 2012, a decrease of less than 1 per cent on the same quarter of 2011.The achievements for supplemental qualifications covered 840 individual qualifications.The qualification with the greatest number of achievements was the Edexcel Level 2 Certificate in Adult Literacy, with 12,000 achievements.In January to March 2012 achievements for supplemental qualifications were awarded by 27 awarding organisations.The awarding organisation that awarded the greatest number of achievements was City & Guilds, with 118,650 achievements.This was a decrease of 3 per cent on the same period of last year.The sector subject area (SSA) with the greatest number of achievements was preparation for life and work, with 429,850 achievements, representing 90 per cent of the total supplemental achievements.The qualification type with the highest number of achievements was key skills, with 130,650 achievements, representing 27 per cent of the total supplemental achievements.The most common level was level 2, with 195,150 achievements, representing 41 per cent of the total supplemental achievements.
