Abstract
Bu yazıda, Auguste Comte'un “Bir bilim ancak tarihi bilinirse tanınabilir” sözüne dayanarak, insanın yüzyıllardır kanseri yenmek için verdiği uğraş ve bu uğraş içerisinde löseminin tanımlanması ve tedavisi ile ilgili tarihi gelişim üzerinde durulmaktadır. Löseminin tarihi gelişimine yer verilmesinin bir diğer nedeni ise, şifa olasılığı artmış olmakla birlikte yüzde yüz başarının her zaman sağlanamadığı bir hastalığın, hasta-hekim ilişkisine etkilerini daha iyi anlayabilmemize yardımcı olabileceği düşüncesidir.
