Abstract
Le marquage linguistique qui se fait par le biais de l’affichage public et commercial dans les villes bilingues peut transmettre des renseignements importants sur le niveau réel de bilinguisme de la ville, sur les phénomènes de diglossie, sur la domination ou l’influence qu’une langue peut exercer sur l’autre et également sur la qualité des langues affichées. Nous nous proposons de faire un état des lieux de l’affichage public et commercial bilingue à Montréal. La problématique de l’affichage bilingue anglais-français sera ici traitée du point de vue de la traductologie. Plus précisément, nous chercherons à comprendre si le français des affiches publiques et commerciales bilingues à Montréal porte des traces de l’anglais dues aux traductions approximatives de messages tout d’abord pensés en anglais et ensuite traduits en français.
