Abstract
Originally built as the "Alexandra" in 1866 by Cantin of Montreal, Que., she was owned by the Ottawa River Nav. Co. In 1883 she was sold to the Hepburns, lengthened and rebuilt as a paddle-wheel passenger steamer, and the name changed to "Alexandria". She ran between Rochester, New York, Bay of Quinte ports and Quebec in the passenger and packet trade. In later years she ran Charlotte, Port Hope, Brighton, Belleville, Picton, Kingston, Alexandria Bay and return. She became the property of Canada S. S. Line during the merger of 1914. She wrecked in a fog near Toronto on Aug. 3, 1915 off Scarborough Bluffs when caught in a gale. No lives were lost.
